#1. BUDGET! Whether a large company/church event or a small immediate family party, try to decide on a general range for your party budget--try making it appropriate for the size gathering. Establishing a budget and remaining flexible will allow ease in the decision-making process.

# 2. GUESTS! Try to keep in mind your target audience of guests - whether for food or entertainment. Providing the "right" mix will add character and make for a successful event.

# 3. THEME THEME THEME! Of course, this may be self-evident by the nature of the celebration...but remember to always plan based on your basic party theme.

#4.LOCATION! Whether hosted inside or out, make sure your facilities are sufficient to satisfy the whole crowd. It's always a good idea for an outdoor get-together to have a tent large enough to accommadate a majority of the guests in case of inclement weather.

#5 INVITATIONS! Always remember that to have a successful event, people need to know your plans. Paper invitations with RSVPs, email invitations, or a phone call are just a few ways to get the word out about your special event.

#6 CONFIRMATION! Check out all the details - not only your guest list, but also food, beverages, entertainment - and reconfirm each element of your event. "Making a list and checking it twice" is always a great idea.
